I secured 96.2% in 12th CBSE. Was over the moon and thought that a great career in Science is assured. 7 years later - am sitting unemployed at home, having quit a PhD during this lockdown (hats off to my bravado), possibly a burden on my parents who had entertained great dreams for me. In hindsight, I don't think I had done much wrong in terms of following the "system". Graduated with distinction from one of India's best colleges. Yet companies find me unemployable and I find myself incompetent. I am using this free time now to get over two very depressing years of life, one micro step at a time. In my experience, marks are not the summum bonum of life. What counts is the skill set you can build. Learn as much as you can. Diversify yourself, just because you want to be an electrical engineer does not mean you should not learn computer programming. I made this mistake and am repenting for it big time.
